Hello, and welcome to the Wasatch Contract Manufacturing blog. Wasatch Labs holds many essential certifications that verify the quality of our manufacturing operations and product ingredients. One of our certifications is the cGMP. In today’s message, we will explain what the cGMP endorsement means.
cGMP refers to the Current Good Manufacturing Practice obligations enforced by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). CGMPs provide for processes that assure appropriate design, monitoring, and control of manufacturing operations and facilities.
Adherence to the cGMP standards assures the identity, strength, quality, and purity of drug products by requiring that providers of medications adequately control manufacturing systems.
This includes establishing strong quality management systems, obtaining appropriate quality raw materials, developing robust operating procedures, detecting and investigating product quality deviations, and maintaining reliable testing laboratories. This formal system of controls at a pharmaceutical company, if adequately put into practice, helps with preventing instances of contamination, mix-ups, deviations, failures, and errors.
You can trust in the team at Wasatch to be certain that our products obtain the highest quality obligations.
The CGMP requirements for contract manufacturers were created to be flexible which permits each manufacturer to decide individually how to best implement the needed controls by using scientifically sound design, processing methods, and testing procedures. The flexibility in these regulations allows businesses to use modern technologies and innovative approaches to achieve optimal quality through continual improvement. Accordingly, the “C” in CGMP stands for “current,” requiring organizations to use technologies and systems that are up-to-date in order to comply with the standards. Systems and equipment that may have been “top-of-the-line” to prevent contamination, mix-ups, and errors 10 or 20 years ago may be less than adequate by today’s standards.
